The building that serves Church of the Nativity catholic parish was dedicated 25 years ago to much fanfare. Its impressive architecture was celebrated in many publications and is cherished by parishioners.

However, with the years of use came an understanding that many building systems were in need of repair from fixing a leaky roof to improving lighting and sound systems. Included was a desire to add religious images, areas for private devotion and color to a fairly stark white room.   In anticipation of its silver anniversary, Fr. Hund and the renewal committee members turned to Brother William Woeger and RDG Planning & Design to provide guidance to, in the parishes words, “finish the job”. The result is a visual depiction of the joyful mysteries throughout the worship space and chapel of the church surrounded by the choir of angels. The gathering space includes a tympanum with the invitation to enter in with shepherds and wise men alike to worship the Christ.

New pendants provide light to those seated, and illuminate the ceiling to draw the eye towards the heavens. Layered lighting ensures a visual hierarchy for worshipers. Photo by Tom Kessler Photography.
