Artist/Sculptor
RDG Dahlquist Art Studio

Des Moines - Primary responsibility for carving and modeling in relief (bas relief), mold-making, casting in a variety of materials.  Some free-standing sculpture on occasion (terra cotta or bronze figurative for example).

The position will involve a variety of tasks that take place on a day to day basis in a busy design and fabrication studio atmosphere.  The candidate must be self-motivated, take direction and suggestion from others, work well in a team environment, and get along with a wide range of other professional disciplines and personalities.  Teaching is also an opportunity with this position.  Those candidates interested in teaching may have the opportunity to be part of the Educational Consortium that is part of the studio.

Artist with a range of 3 dimensional experience, which may include but is not limited to the following:
            Sculpture
            Carving & Modeling in Relief
            Ceramic Knowledge a plus
            Modeling in Wax and/or Plasticene
            Mold Making/Plaster Casting
            Experience with the RAM-PRESS process a plus
            Strong drawing skills a plus, including the figure
            Ability for free-hand sketching, illustration
            Basic knowledge of tools, including woodworking and other fabrication
            techniques
            BFA or MFA or proven experience in the field
            Some graphic design experience a plus, including Photoshop
