City Council Hearing - August 18

The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval of the comprehensive plan at their July 29th meeting. A City Council public hearing is planned for Monday, August 18 at 6:30 pm to consider adopting the comprehensive plan.

Planning & Zoning Review July 29

The Planning & Zoning commission will hold a public hearing to review the comprehensive plan on Tuesday, July 29 at 6:30 pm at City Hall.  See previous entry for the draft of the plan.

Please Note: Concepts shown in the attachment above are rough drafts and will be revised over the coming months.  These concepts are intended to assist the city with planning for public investments and policies, but property owners decide if/when their land will be developed/redeveloped.

Public Meeting: What will Altoona be in 2035?

Please join the comprehensive plan committee and city staff on February 5th for a presentation and public discussion on how Altoona will grow and change over the next 20 years.

Comprehensive Plan Presentation: Envisioning Altoona in 2035
Wednesday, February 5th at 6 p.m.
Altoona Public Library: 700 8th St SW, Altoona


Visit with the project team as they present ideas for how Altoona can prepare for the possibility that its population could double in the next 20 years.  The first 15 minutes of the meeting will be an open house format, followed by a formal presentation at 6:15 that will cover the future of Altoona's housing, commercial/industrial development, transportation, and parks.

All are welcome to attend the Community Goals workshop! 

November 12 at 7 p.m. at the Altoona Fire Station (950 Venbury Drive).

What are the most important goals for Altoona in the next 10-20 years?
  • Add new jobs and businesses?
  • Expand the trail system?
  • Provide more housing options?
  • Build community pride and identity?
Come to the workshop to share your opinion!  This 90-minute meeting will include a brief presentation followed by small group discussions. Attendees will help determine goals for the new Altoona Comprehensive Plan, which will provide a guide for future city investments and policies. All are welcome.
