What’s going on? An update.

RDG has been preparing narrative and refining graphics for the Central City Plan since their presentation on November 24th. The design team will continue working on the plan this month and provide a preliminary draft to the City for review by end of the year. Staff will review the document for possible errors, omissions, and misspellings before submitting the document for public and council review in mid-January. After the public review, RDG will modify the document based on comments received and formerly submit the document to City Council for approval.

If you have any immediate questions, please contact Rita Albrecht, Community Development Director, at 759-3580.

Thank you!

In January 2008, the City of Bemidji retained RDG Planning & Design to prepare a Master Plan for improving the Central City. After hours of meetings, weeks of analyzing data and markets, and months of designing concepts, RDG presented concepts and strategies for improving Bemidji on Monday, November 24th. Download the presentation (large file!). The City encourages you to provide them feedback. Contact Rita Albrecht at 759-3580 or e-mail rita.albrecht@ci.bemidji.mn.us.

Where do we go from here?
During the next month, RDG will be writing a document that describes the concepts in more detail. This document will become a roadmap for implementing the plan. It will include several chapters, including:
1) Markets for Bemidji (projections for population, housing, retail, & office)
2) Existing Conditions (physical condition)
3) Strategic Planning (summary of the public participation)
4) A Master Plan (concepts for improving Bemidji)
5) Implementation (cost estimates, funding strategies, priorities and schedule)
