The authors would like to thank the leadership brought to the planning proces by Bobbi Pettit, Lance Lang, Peggy Eynetich, and Dick Reiter.  Their enthusiasm and commitment for Kearney and its downtown will undoubtedly make the City an even better place to live and visit.

We also thank all of the members of the steering committee and people who contributed to this plan. We especially thank Larry Eggert for his countless hours that he gave to the planning process.

Open House

RDG will return on Tuesday, December 13th to present the concepts of the Downtown Plan
What: Open House (45 minute presentation)
Where: City Hall (2nd Floor across from Council Chambers)
When: Tuesday, December 13th at 5:00pm

In September 2011, the City of Kearney retained RDG Planning & Design to prepare a Plan for improving Downtown. After hours of meetings, weeks of analyzing data and markets, and designing concepts, RDG and the Downtown Steering Committee will be presenting concepts and strategies for improving Kearney on Tuesday, December 13th. The City encourages you to provide them feedback. Contact Bobbi Pettit at 308-233-5728 or e-mail BPettit@kearneygov.org.

Where do we go after the meeting?
The plan will be available online for public review on December 13th. This document will become a roadmap for implementing the downtown plan. It consists of four chapters, including:

1) Markets for Kearney (projections for population, housing, retail, and office demand)
2) Downtown Today (existing physical condition)
3) Development Concept (concepts for improving Downtown Kearney)
5) Implementation (cost estimates, funding strategies, priorities and schedule)

Emerging Concepts

RDG Planning & Design presented the concepts emerging from the Design Studio in October to the Downtown Plan Steering Committee, Main Street volunteers, and UNK Student Government.  Thank you to all who attended.
