RDG Receives Sustainable Business Award
WasteCap Nebraska recognized RDG for their outstanding environmental achievements with the Sustainable Business Award. The Omaha office was recognized for their holistic approach to sustainability that not only made their work environment more "green," but provided training to employees for their home environments as well as the environments of their clients by designing LEED certified buildings.
Recognized as a Best Place To Work
RDG was recognized in 2010 and 2005 as one of the top 5 medium-sized companies in Omaha!
RDG’s Omaha location not only reflects our commitment to downtown revitalization, but also our drive to find balance. Our space is historic yet forward-thinking. Our expertise is individual, but the results are collective. And building relationships is just as important to us as delivering outstanding design. We push ourselves to be the leaders our clients need in design, sustainability, continuous learning and cutting-edge technology. But we also respect and promote the health and well-being of our staff. It’s not just work, it feels like family — one that works hard together to make a lasting impact with every project we touch.
Working for Good
Living life responsibly and doing work that makes a difference is in our DNA. It’s part of every choice we make in both our professional and personal lives. Whether we’re designing a project or getting involved in the community, our ultimate goal is to make life better for the people around us. We encourage our employees to share their talents and abilities through a variety of volunteer and non-profit efforts. For example, we contribute to Omaha’s Summer Arts Festival, and we are longtime supporters of Goodwill Industries. As strong advocates of Leadership Omaha, we also select employees to apply for the program each year — and some have continued on volunteer committees within the organization.
A Culture of Connection
We know quality and timely service are critical for our clients, and that’s exactly what we provide. But we also maintain a balance of fun. We want our clients to enjoy working with us — and be effective working with each other — so we think it’s important to get to know and understand the people around us. Holiday events, group bike rides, bus trips to Kansas City and College World Series games are some of the opportunities that give our employees a chance to step out of work mode and build on the team connection.
When we designed our Omaha office, it wasn’t just about function and aesthetics. It was about giving people an environment that encourages innovative thinking. Our open, interactive workspace invites collaboration between coworkers and learning between disciplines. It’s a creative-rich atmosphere where casual critique and productive discussion are part of how we work every day — which ultimately adds up to better work for our clients. This is where we explore new solutions and live our commitment to environmental responsibility … all in a walkable downtown location that keeps our carbon footprint small.
The RDG Omaha office is located in the Nash Block building, which was built between 1905 and 1907 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built for the M.E. Smith Company, a major dry goods manufacturer/wholesaler, it was later occupied for many years by the McKesson-Robbins Drug Company. The building was rehabilitated into apartments and renamed “The Greenhouse” in 1989. RDG renovated the Central Park Mall level of the Greenhouse into their offices in 2001.
