- Lighting Design
Landscape Architecture Overview:
As part of the creation of a new district, Phase One of the overall plan includes the transformation of a former service station into Three Stars Park. Designed around the rock and roll history of The Surf Ballroom, the circular park plays off the musical significance of the record, housing an art deco inspired central spindle holding three 45 records in a position "ready to play". The spindle will contain a musical jukebox, playing music from entertainers who have played at The Surf over the years. The jukebox will also serve as an interpretive center, narrating the historical significance of The Surf Ballroom. The spindle creates an ambiance at night with LED illumination based upon the musical score of the Buddy Holly song, "Rave On", and adds interest reminiscent of a timeless era.
